Conservative Approach to Restoring a Dark Tooth

The patient was concerned that a crown or veneer would be difficult to match the other front teeth, but still wanted something to be done to lighten up that one tooth.

We are not sure why the tooth started to darken, but on occasion teeth in the front can darken, especially true if there has been a previous root canal or trauma to the tooth.  This tooth had prior root canal therapy so we were able to remove the restoration that was placed on the back of the tooth when the root canal was completed and then place bleach inside the tooth and let it whiten the tooth from the inside out.

Here’s the final photo after 3 weeks of bleaching the tooth from the inside.

We were both satisfied with the results.
